This is Me

Hey there, name's Becky, 26 year old, lifelong Michigan resident. I graduated from Grand Valley State University after five years and four different majors (pre-med, French, Education, English) in May 2006. I have a BA in English. I got my MLS (aka, librarian's degree) from Wayne State University in December 2008. I have three part-time jobs: children's librarian at one library, library assistant in the technical services department/substitute librarian at the other. Despite being 26 years old, I still live at home because no rent!

Random Tidbits About Me

I like sports a lot. This is primarily what this journal is about, especially the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers (I also like to occasionally make fun of the Lions). The current love of my life is Tigers pitcher, Rick "Freddie" Porcello. It used to be Jordan "Tittyman" Tata, but once he stopped playing baseball, there wasn't any reason to flail. I'm half Italian, quarter Scottish, and quarter Irish. If I'm not watching sports on TV, then I'm probably watching Psych, as you should too. I like all kinds of music, everything from indie to pop to dance to rap, and thank god for my lovely blue iPod (although I'm starting to run out of room!). I hate snow but love the sound of a good rainstorm. I sometimes get paranoid for no reason. I daydream a lot and get easily distracted. I used to be a writer, but I have the hardest time concentrating on writing and I'm extremely critical of my work.

Here's the Deal

I'm not one to divulge the personal aspects of my life. Although I will update about my life, this isn't like one of those private diaries where you write about your deepest darkest secrets and hide them so your kid sister/brother doesn't find it and read it and spread rumors about you. No, this is a journal where I interact with people, tell them about my day, and quite frequently update about sports. You'll see lots of pictures, quotes, articles, links, squeeing, and random silly stupid stuff. Oh and the occasional rant. I most certainly don't post every day, sometimes I go several days without posting. I like to be random when I do post. As a warning, I tend to be very sarcastic and/or make a lot of jokes. I realize sarcasm and jokes do not always translate over the Internets. Therefore, I am telling you now, when in doubt, assume I am joking. If I'm not, you'll know. Thanks. I also swear fairly regularly. I can't figure out why but if that kind of stuff bothers you, then I suggest you not enter.

AS OF JANUARY 1ST, 2009, THIS JOURNAL HAS BECOME FRIENDS ONLY. Not because I'm an elitist but because I like to know who is reading my journal. As for the whole friending deal, lately people have been asking me if I can add them. I say this: Odds are I'll add you back. Also, I usually don't "defriend" people unless the journal is dead. Or you really piss me off. Also, all icons/graphics in this journal are made by me unless otherwise stated. You can use the icons if you'd like, credit is not required (however, nice!).
